About This Post

What Makes this Post Unique

London Post EG01 was granted its charter in December 1920, making it one of the the oldest American Legion posts in existence.  It was founded by American servicemen after the First World War; its ranks were comprised of Americans living and working in London, including diplomats and foreign service officers, journalists, and military personnel.

One of our posts initial missions was the care of American graves in the United Kingdom; by 1920, over 450 American servicemen killed during The First World War were interred in Brookwood Cemetery outside of London.  The mandate to honour those who gave their lives for their country continues to this day as we actively partner with local communities to ensure those servicemen and women are not forgotten.
