About This Post

Post Namesake
American Legion Memorial Post #338
What Makes this Post Unique
For years, the post organizes a Memorial Day Parade to commemorate and celebrate all service men and women on Memorial Day each year in Middletown, New Jersey. The American Legion Post #338 has donated funds to the community, American Legion programs, the Commanders Projects, Boys State, Girls State, Child Welfare Foundation, Middletown Helps its Own, etc. All of these organizations have become a big part of the legion family. Each year, we host a Veteran's Day Dinner for all of the veterans in local nursing homes. The event is a wonderful day for all involved. The post raises money for Homeless Veterans Organizations through events organized by the American Legion Post #338 family. In 1997, the commander of the sons, Dave Wilson took on a project that would revitalize the post picnic grounds, by 1998 the legion family raised over four-thousand dollars for this project. This patio was framed and designed by Frankie Norcross. Under the direction of Commander Richard Lougee, Ladies President Joanna McGinn, and Son's of the American Legion commander Craig Scott, the legion family worked together with Missouri legionnaires to aid in recovery efforts after a major flood there. They raised over three-thousand dollars and sent truckloads of goods for the flood victims in Missouri. Each year members of the legion join other posts from around the state in Wildwood, New Jersey for the convention. The American Legion hosts a coloring contest for local students in third and fourth grades to participate in. The American Legion offers Hall Rentals in our beautiful, renovated hall and our Picnic area with a jukebox, grill area, and horseshoe pits for your special event needs. Give us a call, at 732-291-4645. Come check out our newly renovated bar with six flat screens, a pull-tab machine where you can legally win up to three-hundred dollars, and snacks all year around, and especially during football season to catch all of the games.
