A: Richard J. Stratton. In 1963 – 50 years ago this month – the student from Leland, Ill., won representing the Federalist party. As tradition still holds, Stratton presented President John F. Kennedy with a T-shirt bearing the Boys Nation emblem.

This Moment's History

Stratton obtained a bachelor’s and a law degree from Harvard, with a master’s from the London School of Economics and Political Science in between. He is an attorney based in San Francisco.
