American Legion Memorial Day Service Schedule 2013 From article in the Cole Camp Courier Friday, May 24, 2013 On Sunday, May 26, American Legion Post 305 will honor all deceased veterans by visiting 26 cemeteries in the Cole Camp and Lincoln area. WWII medals returned to Ruth Bormann, widow of Navy seaman Melvin "Jake" Bormann. Local Post Commander Roy Wagner in consultation with Past Commander Terry Vogel, contacted the Navy Personnel Command's Retired Records Division in St.Louis. Roy Wagner's wife Linda, an Auxiliary Member, mounted the medals in a shadow box for proper display. The medals were returned in a ceremony on the Bormann front lawn, complete with Color Guard and family members in attendance. Members and Auxiliary members donated toys, teddy bears and other appropriate goodies for the local Toys for Tots program. Luckily for us, the donation center is right across the street at the local Volunteer Fire Station in Cole Camp! Full story »
