Post Namesake
Born of the parents J. Noel Hotard and Gaetine Martin June 25, 1894, in the community of Bourg, parish of Terrebonne, Louisiana. Lenox Hotard can well be termed the average American boy of his generation. On September 19, 1917, at the age of 23, he was inducted into the Army of the United States. Following basic traing at Camp Beauregard, he transferre in June of 1918, to France as a member of the Expeditionary FOrce, routing through Shreveport, Louisiana and Camp Pike, Arkansas. Assigned to the Infantry at time of induction, he was transferred to an Artillery Unit upon reaching France. He was killed in action during the Battle of Chateau-Thierry, July 21, 1918. Following the Armistice, his remains were transferred to Arlington National Cemetery where they lie today.
