Post 15 Receives its Original Charter

Beginnings Acadia Post 15 When the American Legion was formed in Paris in February of 1919, two Crowley men attended the organizational meeting. Colonel Philip S. Pugh, Jr. and Lieutenant Isaac “Ike” Broussard were in Europe as members of the Army of Occupation. There was much interest around the nation for this organization of war veterans. American Legion Hospital Perhaps the greatest service that Acadia Post 15 has provided to the citizens of Crowley and the surrounding area was begun in 1929 when Post members made the decision to place the health needs of Crowley citizens above their desire for a meeting place. Drum & Bugle Corps In August of 1930, the American Legion Acadia Post 15 formed a committee to organize a drum ad bugle corps. The committee was comprised of Charles J. Macholl, Chairman, and Dorsey Peckham, and M.L. McCorkle. By March of 1931, 25 Legionnaires had signed up.
