What Makes this Post Unique
Mundy-Beck Post 9-1-1 was stood up as the first service post with the designation of 9-1-1 on February 09, 1990. Former members of Post 291 started Mundy-Beck American Legion Post 9-1-1. The original members were 1st Responders, Law Enforcement, Fire Services, and Support personnel. We derived our name from the first African-American Atlanta Police Officer Claude Everett Mundy, Jr. and the first African-American Atlanta Firefighter Howard Haley Beck in honor of their ultimate sacrifice in service to the Atlanta community. Our unique colors represent the three services we were founded under: the Royal Blue crown for Law Enforcement, the Red braid for Fire Services and the Gold lettering for Support Services. We are proud to be the only Post in America to wear these colors to represent Our Country, Our Organization, and Ourselves.
