Frostproof's original American Post was located near Reedy Lake, but it became deactivated after the building caught fire and had to be demolished. The building was reconstructed, but the disaster, coupled with a dwindling veteran population, led to the post inevitably being deactivated in 2005. Prior to its deactivation, the Legion donated $70,000 in 2005 toward the restoration of the city hall auditorium, which was renamed the American Legion Memorial Auditorium Post 95 in their honor. The Post is being reactivated with a newer population of young veterans, and had its charter returned 25 May 2015.
