Post Namesake

Heisler-Johnson Post 119 was named for Ralph Heisler and Worth Johnson; Both WWI Army members KIA in France. Ralph E Heisler was born on September 6, 1896 and was killed on July 28, 1918. Ralph was 21 years old when he was killed in action during the battle of Chateau-Thierre. Ralph is buried in  the Oise-Aisne (Waas-Saine) cemetary located in France. Ralph joined the U.S.Army in 1917 and was assigned to a machine gun company, 165th Infantry Regiment.

Worth E Johnson was born on March 23, 1900 and died on October 9, 1918. Worth was 18 years old when he died serving his country. Worth is buried in the Largo Cemetary in Largo Florida. Worth joined the U.S.Army and was assigned to the Florida Bugler 54th Infantry Division.

What Makes this Post Unique

The property was donated during WWII by John S. Taylor Jr. In the 1900's our building was a USO, Band room, Teen club

(Dances), Bakery, Doctors office, Western Union and a post office. Then became American Legion Post 119 in the 1940's.
