What Makes this Post Unique
Post 52 is currently the 4th largest Legion post in the state of Arkansas. We are one of the few posts in the state that have an Honor Guard to provide military honors at veterans' funerals.

1930
New Legion Hut Dedicated
Jul 4, 1935
The new American Legion building was dedicated with an appropriate program on Thursday, July 4, 1935. The building was constructed with labor furnished by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and others from around the community. The local Boy Scout Troup [sic] did a lot of the back-breaking work carrying and breaking rocks for the walls. The auditorium is 40 x 80 feet with walls of native stone. It contained a stage 20 X 40 feet..

Legion dedicates flagpole at new baseball field

In December of 1990, the Legion paid for and installed a flag with pole and dedication marker in Cooper Park for the new baseball diamond. (NOTE: This field is now known as Lester White Field, in honor of the Post 52 Legion Baseball coach of the same name, who has served honorably and proudly in that capacity for 30+ years.) Upon purchasing the building, Legionnaires made a promise to church members that they would never install a bar. To this day, the building is alcohol-free (and always will be, since there is now a daycare center next door). Legion Baseball tournament named for Brooks Robinson

The 2006 Twin Lakes Classic American Legion Baseball Tournament (June 14-18) kicked off with a special visit from National Baseball Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson. All future Twin Lakes Classic tournaments will carry the Brooks Robinson name. His busy first day included an invitation-only luncheon at Big Creek, followed later that evening by an autograph session at Cooper Park. About 500 fans came out for the event.
