John Harvey Owens was born 18 August 1893 in Waupaca Co., Wisconsin to Henry J. Owens and Carrie Esther (Rodgers) Owens. He was the oldest of 9 siblings, Lillian Maud, Sylvia Irene, Edward, George Allen born 1898-1899, Myrtle Margaret, Vernon Lester, Luella May, Mildred G. and Marian Lucille. His Hometown was Mattoon, Shawano Co., Wisconsin. He was a Corporal in the Army in World War I. He assigned to Company I, 128th Infantry. He was killed in Action 13 June 1918 at Fulleren, Haut-Rhin, Alsac, France at the age of 24 years old. He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Mattoon, Shawano Co., Wisconsin. The 128th Infantry was formed when Wisconsin National Guard went active in 1917.
