American Legion Post # 187 of Winfield, West Virginia is named in honor of Lt. James E. Marshall, A Commander who was fatally wounded near Old Bauldy,Korea on 19 Sep 1952. He was posthumously awarded the U. S. Army Distinguish Service Cross and the Purple Heart. On 20 September 2012, Post # 187 held a Memorial Service to honor Lt. Marshall and his family. His brother John Marshall formed the Post in 1999 and was the first Commander. The church house was filled for the service and was covered by the local media. The service was held 60 years and one day after the Lieutenant's death.
