New York American Legion helps veterans shop safely
New York American Legion Post 339 Commander Syd Mandelbaum, runs Rock and Wrap it Up – a free farmers market for veterans in the Cedarhurst, N.Y. community – three days a week in his driveway. The idea launched as a way to help veterans shop safely in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Volunteers from the post and community, as well as donations from Costco and Trader Joe's, has turned the initiative into a valuable resource in the Long Island community.
