On August 20, Stevens-Chute Post 4 Commander William Chan and Adjutant Lara Chan attended the annual National American Legion College Alumni Association (NALCAA) Banquet. The banquet was held at the Bend Elks Lodge. During the business part of the evening, Post 4 Commander William Chan and Adjutant Lara Chan were sworn in as President (William) and Public Relations Officer (Lara). Both were elected to their offices at the NALCCA Executive meeting at the Atlantis Hotel and Casino on August 19, 2017. Additionally, the NALCAA made former Chancellor Butch Miller an honorary member of the alumni association. Towards the end of the evening, money was raised for the National Commander's Funds of TFA and Service Officer training. The NALCAA gave $500 from its general fund. The combined classes of 2014 and 2016 raised $1,101.00. The class of 2015 raised $1,678.00. The total amount of $3,279.00 was presented to National Commander Charlie Schmidt by NALCAA President and Stevens-Chute Post 4 Commander William Chan during the first day of general session on August 22.
