The American Legion's 100 year journey

What other veterans organizations did Congress ask The American Legion to submit annual reports alongside?

Q: What other veterans organizations did Congress ask The American Legion to submit annual reports alongside?

A: On June 6, 1924, Congress passed P.R. 25, asking the Legion, the Grand Army of the Republic (for Union Civil War veterans, founded in 1866) and the United Spanish War Veterans (a combination of several different organizations, loosely based around the Spanish-American War and founded in 1904) to submit "the proceedings of the national encampments ... with accompanying illustrations."

This Moment's History

The Grand Army of the Republic dissolved in 1956 when its last member died. The United Spanish War Veterans dissolved in 1992 when its last member died. The charge from Congress is now part of the Legion's charter; a collection of the modern reports (mid-90s through 2012) is available on the Legion's Digital Archive.
