Post 315 is named in honor of U.S. Army Private Rolla Dicks who, on December 14, 1918, became the first citizen of Burlington Junction, Missouri to be killed in action in World War I.

Rolla Dicks Post 315 receives charter

Rolla Dicks Post 315 received its charter on October 1, 1920. The first meeting was held in the director's room of the Northwestern Bank in Burlington Junction, Missouri with 19 World War I veterans in attendance. The Post was named in memory of Rolla Dicks of Burlington Junction who was killed in action on December 14, 1918, the first veteran of World War I killed in action from Burlington Junction.

Rolla Dicks Post 315 has first headquarters

Rolla Dicks Post 315's first Legion Hall was a building on the west Main Street in Burlington Junction that was rented from Adolph Lipman. The Legion Hall was used for box suppers and as a voting precinct location. At the time, the local high school had no gymnasium, so the Legion Hall became the school gymnasium for basketball practice for both the boys and girls teams and the location for home games for those squads...

Funeral Services Held For Private Rolla Dicks, U.S. Army

May 30, 1921
On May 30, 1921, almost three years after he was killed in action in World War I, the funeral services for United States Army Private Rolla Dicks were held at City Park in Burlington Junction, Missouri. Members of Post 315 constructed an Army-type caisson which was pulled by a team of black horses. The Honor Guard and pallbearers were all members of Rolla Dicks Post 315. Rolla Dicks Post 315 Headquarters Collapses

Rolla Dicks Post 315 Legion Hall in Burlington Junction collapsed around suppertime on February 3, 2013. The building was not occupied at the time and no injuries were reported. The building was purchased by the Post in the 1940s from Lewis Brothers and had previously served as the Burlington Junction Post Newspaper building.

Post 315 Opens New Headquarters

Working with the community of Burlington Junction, Missouri, Rolla Dicks Post 315 opened its new Post Headquarters after its building collapsed in February 2013. Past Post Commander Marlin Slagle commended fellow Legionnaire C. D. Clark for committing a lot of his own time and money as well as helping to foster community support to get the new Post Headquarters/Community Building completed.

American Legion National Commander Dale Barnett of the Department of Georgia was the guest of honor at a luncheon held at Rolla Dicks Post 315 on October 4, 2015. Commander Barnett spoke to attendees about his own Legion experiences and issues concerning the Department of Veterans Affairs and its treatment of veterans medical needs.
