A wet rainy Memorial Day here in Woodbury. The Woodbury Memorial Day Service was held at City Hall instead of the Veterans Memorial. A poignant event hosted by Woodbury VFW Post 9024 and American Legion Post 501. The Woodbury HS AFJROTC, Patriotic Heritage Allegiant Honor Guard, Boys Scout of America Troop 559 and Minnesota National Guard Honor Guard all played active roles in the ceremony. Woodbury Mayor Ann Burt did welcoming remarks, followed by Commander Tom Grezek, American Legion Post 501, Commander Paul Lindahl, VFW Post 9024. Keynote speaker was SFC Ron Kane, VFW Post 9024 who spoke of his time in Vietnam and specifically about the battle of Hamburger Hill where 241 Americans killed in one week in Vietnam.
