The eighties was a banner decade for the Post in many ways. Accolades seemed to come naturally for Ned Cutter’s men and women. A national best newspaper, awards for editorial writing and best press book were journalistic accomplishments. Members and teams won honors at District, Department and National levels.

The Post did it’s share of giving also. Outstanding Scout awards were given each year. The school patrol members were awarded as well as being supplied with necessities.

Wild game dinners were served annually to VA hospital patients, State Hospital patients, local paraplegics, and nursing home residents.

Ceremonies on the Fourth of July and Memorial Day were givens as well as Poppy distribution.

The Post and Auxiliary donated many flags over the decade: flags to schools, boy and girl scout troops and the Court House.
