Attendees of the 99th National Convention in Reno, Nev., in August will have opportunities to learn about the latest news and initiatives relating to the Legion’s upcoming 100th anniversary celebration. A special Centennial booth will be stationed in the exhibit hall of the Reno-Sparks Convention Center from Friday, Aug. 18, through Tuesday, Aug. 22. Computers will be accessible for those needing help starting or adding to a post history page, and the 100th Anniversary Media Toolkit – designed to help posts publicize the Centennial in their communities and set themselves up for the next century of service – will be available. There will also be a raffle for a customized 100th Anniversary clock, courtesy of Emblem Sales. This year’s 100th Anniversary Workshop will be held in two identical sessions on Monday, Aug. 21, in Room C1 on the first floor of the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. The sessions run from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. The workshops will include an introduction to materials that posts can use to begin publicizing the Centennial in their communities; discussion of how posts can carry the Centennial Celebration into their next 100 years; best practices in a variety of areas; and more. Walk-ins are welcomes, but preregistration is available at www.legion.org/register.
