American Legion Post 2 Commander Russ Trudel and Post members Tim Gamache, Leonard Webster, and Omer Debay, Volunteered to man the the Bristol Veterans Council booth at the Bristol, CT Homeshow on February 20th and 21st, sponsored by the Bristol Chamber of Commerce. While there, they promoted the various activities being sponsored by the CT Veterans Community, as well as their local Army Strong Center. Passersby stopped to donate to the upcoming activities and events such as the the annual Salute Dinner put on to honor the area youth joining the military upon graduation, the Vietnam Wall that Heals coming to Bristol in June and to also raise money to purchase the Flags that are put out on every Veterans Grave in the City of Bristol for Memorial Day. Vietnam Veterans stopping by the booth were honored with a Certificate thanking them for their service, and applications for membership to the American Legion were taken by interested Veterans asking for info. Graveside Flag Holders and Flags were also available for purchase for individuals wishing to place one at their relatives grave sites outside of Bristol as well. Basically the three Generations of Volunteers answered questions and shared stories and smiles with many of the passersby, and it was a great event and great time had by all. Personal thank you goes out to Bristol Veterans Council Members and American Legion Post 2 members Dave Carello for helping with setting up the booth, and Joel Boutwell for dropping off the fliers to be handed out during the event.
