Do you remember the first poppy that you ever saw, or where you were on that day. I was on Main Street in St. Albans, WV in 1949 with my mom and dad. It was a Saturday afternoon in May and my dad was going to buy a dress for his mother for Mothers Day. An old veteran was set up in front of the 5 & 10 store and my dad gave the old gent some money and began to tell me about poppies. It was a day to remember.
