American Legion National Commander Charlie Schmidt attended the Department of Vermont Dinner in honor of Commander Schmidt's visit to Vermont. The evening was well attended by Legion, Aux and Sons members from across the state and Whitehall Vermont. The evening began with a welcome from Post 50 and Rutland County Commander Catherine Tester who then turned the evening over to the Master of Ceremonies Department Commander from Post 39 John Heald. The Department of Vermont Color Guard consisting of members from Post 39 in Poultney and Post 50 in Castleton. Post 50 1st Vice Commander Si Loomis (retire Sgt Major) and Post 50 Past Commander Gordon Austin presented the POW/MIA ceremony while Legion member John Pesky played Amazing Grace on the violin. The commander was presented with a marble clock from department and a hand made eagle from five different types of pine cones was presented from Post 50.
