Provo Post 13

Comrades;

I am writing in reference to our 2013 memberships that have not been paid. I know most of us do not understand the Membership time lines. I am hoping that my explanation will help our post be a 100% Membership Post early, to be completed faster for future and less frustration why you keep getting membership due letters. Explaining the Legion Time lines should help our purpose to see that you are covered on your $5,000 free Accidental Life Insurance coverage too.

Membership Drives are from August to June. (2012-2013). Most Commanders and Adjutants will not submit your membership to Department and National if you pay after March or May. The reason they do this is they think they are saving you a membership payment for the coming year. They count it for the next year in July. This is not supposed to happen but we know it does. This makes our members upset and angry because they get a notice of due membership from national in July and August. The member thinks well I just paid my dues. In the mean time you have not been current on you membership and your benefits have lapsed and are not valid for rightful claim if needed for the insurance you thought you had.

The best method of knowing when your memberships are due is as followed: “Think for 2013 the dues were supposed to be made in August.” If we all know this it makes membership smoother and less annoying getting notices from Department and National.

Most importantly: Pay your dues to your local post. The dues are then partially used for YOUR community not Department or National. Our Dues are $30.00 per year and Departments are $35.00. So Please pay locally.

Enclosed are those members we are waiting 2013 Memberships from the Reports from our Adjutant. I am writing only you who are late so that I could explain our Membership Program. Thank you for your membership. I hope this has been helpful for the future and our Membership Chairman can complete his assignments and save costs in administration costs.
For God and Country.

Randy D. Edwards
Commander
