American Legion Post 44 is chartered

Nov 10, 1919
The application for Post 44 was made on November 6, 1919 and was approved by the American Legion Department of Tennessee on November 10, 1919. The National Executive Committee approved the application on November 19, 1919. Although there is no documentation on the first officers it is believed that the first commander was Mr. Willis Shadow and the first adjutant was Mr. T.C. Simmons

Post 44 headquarters, located at 106 North Vine Street was finished and opened for use on this date. The building is still in use today

Yellow Ribbon Reintigration Program (YRRP) 118 MPAD Tennessee National Guard January 28-29 2017 Tennessee American Legion Post 44 Commander Thomas Furman and Vice Commander Charles Lewis had the opportunity to meet with guard members returning from 30 and 60 deployment.
