The first, hopefully annual, Legion Pheasant Hunt was held on the Terry Ness farm. We had 15 gunners, several dogs, and a couple of "golphers" along to keep things going. The day started out with a promised hearty SOS breakfast. Well, hearty was a bit of a reach for what was provided. Post Administrator Ron LeBeau, who admits to being less than a novice around a kitchen misread the recipe. It provided directions for from 4-6 people... not the 20 folks expected. Those lucky few who were fed seemed to enjoy Ron's meager efforts. Fortunately we had several kinds of rolls to help make up for it.
Snacks were prepared for later by our Commander who made up an excellent batch of sandwiches. Coffee, pop and snacks were tossed in and the Legion bus full of heavily armed and seasoned soldiers headed out. We had perfect weather and a fair number of birds. Reports from the field indicated that more birds were spooked than shot. But, that's OK because everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy the day. Note that no Legionnaires or livestock were harmed during the course of this hunt. After the hunt there was a gathering of 14 people for dinner at the Outpost Lodge.
