Honor Flight South Dakota was established in 2008 with the mission of taking any WWII veteran from South Dakota who wanted to go to Washington DC to see the WWII Memorial dedicated May 29th, 2004 in their honor. Honor Flight South Dakota made 12 flights to DC allowing over 1,400 WWII veterans to be honored for their service and see their Memorial. All flights were paid for by the generosity of the people of South Dakota. WWII veterans from Post #60 who made the flights included Q.C.Miles, Edward Hallberg, William Wolf, Floyd Flatten and Alvah Macer.
