The legion hall had asphalt tiles installed on the basement floor when built. These tiles started coming up in 1997. So the legion decided to remove the tiles and paint the floor. This was completed twice and it was starting to look real bad again. We looked for ways to fix the floor and make it look great and would last. We were told by several concrete people not to put anything on the floor that would completely seal the floor. This included epoxy paint and stains. Plus, the glue from the tiles was still exposed in the concrete. We tried several different means to remove the glue, even sanding the floor. But the glue stayed there. We were told to have a 2" layer of concrete laid on the floor and we could stain it when pouring. However, that was just an idea that would never fly because of the cost and everything touching the floor would have to be raised 2" for the new concrete. So, it was brought up to cover the floor with some type of floating cover. Vinyl flooring was finally decided on. We had it installed and covered the complete floor including the kitchen and restrooms. At the same time we also had to remove the toilets for this flooring to be installed. We had two toilets donated to us from a company that was about to destroy them for a new year style run. So, we had new handicap toilets installed. The cost of the flooring with installation was $6,650.
