The post was named in honor of William Harvey Coacher, who died of wounds received in action in France. Lt. William Harvey Coacher served with Company F on the Mexican Boarder and later attended the O.T.C. at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant. He was one of the first casualties from Davison County.
