Memorial Day is a day set aside to remember those in the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives for our country. Following is a list of many of the services and activities planned around Indiana County to mark the federal holiday. INDIANA BOROUGH The Indiana Area Senior High School band will perform at Indiana’s Memorial Day service, starting at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Memorial Park, along Wayne Avenue beside the old National Guard armory. The ceremony is being organized by the American Legion Post #141 in Indiana. Wesley Wertz, the post commander, will make introductions, and Indiana Mayor George Hood will be the master of ceremonies. Father George Hnatko, of the Eastern Orthodox Foundation, will offer an invocation, and a firing squad from the Indiana VFW Post #1989 will also participate. There will be a roll call of military veterans from Indiana County killed in action, and wreaths will be placed to honor veterans from the Revolutionary War through the war in Afghanistan.
