Indiana County Sheriff Bob Fyock, president of the Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association, had the distinct honor to be selected and congratulated by Department Commander Dennis Haas and more than 190,000 members of the Pennsylvania American Legion as the 2015 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Fyock was presented with this award at the 97th annual convention of the Pennsylvania American Legion at the Hilton Hotel in Harrisburg, on July 11. “I am truly honored and humbled to have been chosen and presented with this prestigious award,” Fyock said in a release. “It was just an honor for me to have been nominated by the American Legion Post #0407 in Blairsville.” According to American Legion Post #0407 Commander Bill Orr, Fyock was selected because of all his activities countywide. He is very active in the community and with programs aimed at curbing drug and alcohol use by youths. Fyock is also an active supporter of veterans’ activities for the county. He is a member of American Legion Post #141 in Indiana, and a Vietnam veteran. “We were very proud to be the sponsoring post for this award and we are very proud of Sheriff Fyock.” Orr said. “He represents Indiana County, and all veterans, very well.” PHOTO: Indiana County Sheriff Bob Fyock, president of the Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association, second from left, recently received the Pennsylvania American Legion 2015 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award.
