Named for Private Eason Tiney the first soldier from Edgecombe County that was killed in World War 1 and the Tarboro American Legion Post honored him by using his name, so that others will not forget him or his sacrifice. On January 8 2011, American Legion Eason-Tiney Post 19 Department of NC opened a new chapter in their history book. 12 Motorcycle Riders formed an American Legion Riders Chapter at Post 19. The newly formed Chapter comprised of members of The American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, and The Sons of The American Legion, drew from various Post in Edgecombe, Nash, and Wilson Counties.
