Private Chester R. Kerl of Pawnee County, Nebraska was killed in action Oct. 15, 1918, while serving with Co. D. 165th Infantry, 42nd Division of the American Expeditionary forces in Argonne, France. Private Kerl is buried at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery in Romagne, France.
