The Milford American Legion Post 171 was formed in 1920. Post 171 celebrated the anniversary on March 17, hosted by the Milford American Legion Auxiliary. The celebration coincided with the American Legion’s 95th anniversary.
Raymond Dale Philson, a Korean War veteran, was the guest speaker. Philson talked about his experience on the Korea War Freedom Flight last fall.
Jim Eberly, Post 171 and Seward County American Legion commander, gave a presentation in November about Post 171’s history in Milford.
The Milford American Legion Post 171 was formed on Feb. 6, 1920, by James G. Muir, according to “History of the Nebraska American Legion,” written by by Frank O’Connell in 1922.
