Shakopee was the First American Legion Post chartered in Minnesota June 21, 1919. Shakopee American Legion Post #2 was awarded the second charter June 21,1921. Although American Legion Post #2 was actually the first American Legion Post, the title Post #1 was reserved for a future Post in Minneapolis / St Paul. Years later American Legion Post #1 opened in Minneapolis, but has since been retired, along with the designation. Our location has changed many..
