Post 257: Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts

47 Martin Road, Vineyard Haven at the Legion Post home. We will put up over 450 flags on the Avenue of Flags at 7:30 am and take them down at 3 pm. All flags are in honor or memory of veterans.

The Memorial Day Parade is held in Vineyard Haven every year and sponored by our post. Other local veterans organizations are invited to participate: American Legion Post 186 in Edgartown and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9261 in Oak Bluffs. We also invite the local Police, Fire and EMS Depts. along with local girl and boy scout troops and the Tsibury School band. We step off at Post 257 at 10 am and proceed to the Avenue of Flags where our ceremony will be held. Wreaths are laid at our WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Avenue of Flags Directory, the 911 Memorial and our Civil War Memorial. Back at the Post home we will lay a wreath for our Merchan Marines. The parade will disband at the post and participants will be invited for refreshments in the hall.
