Joseph P. Chaisson killed in action-Post Name sake

Joseph P. Chaisson was the first hometown soldier to be killed in action during World War I The United States had been reluctant to enter the war and in 1917 the 26 Yankee division was federalized consisting of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut National Guard and was mobilized at Camp Devins, Massachusetts. On January 14th, 1937 The Boston Excelsor Company deeded over the land and building to the American Legion. The original building has amazing woodwork, two mantel fireplaces and a full basement. A single story addition was added in late 1950"s to include a kitchen, seating for 175 people and a separate heating system.
