Making history for Post 307 when Mrs. Melba Brehm Coleman was elected as Post 307 Commander for 1988-1989. It's believed Mrs. was the first woman to hold this rank in Louisiana. Mrs. Coleman was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a member of the Venus Mardi Gras Krewe, Iris Carnival Krewe and the American Association of Retired Persons Chapter 1965. She was a Corporal in the Women's Army Corp during World War II.
