George Ester was born in Naperville, Illinois on March 27, 1893. Shortly after the country declared war he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for 18 months. A good share of this time was spent on the high seas with a submarine crew which operated out of the naval base in the Azore Islands. After his discharge he returned to Naperville for several years during which time he served as the 3rd Commander (1921) of Naperville Post 43.

George moved to California in 1922 where he worked as a commercial artist in San Francisco. Following the stock market crash in 1929, he moved to Santa Barbara where he worked for the Firestone Company until his death on Oct, 31, 1934.

Funeral Services were held in Naperville, Illinois. Interment was made in the family lot at Naperville Cemetery with the American Legion rendering their tribute with the rifle salute and taps.
