Post 140 Receives Georgia Senate Commendation

On 03/01/1976 Senator Paul Coverdell presented Senate Resolution 432. The resolution commended Post 140 for it's active participation in Bicentennial programs and exhibition of the replica of the '1776 Bennington Flag' - the first Stars and Stripes taken into battle and victory. Resolution 432 was adopted by the Senate and signed by Zell Miller, President of the Senate, and Hamilton McWhorter Jr., Secretary of the Senate.

Jones Day - Pershing Point Park WWI Memorial Rededication

Post 0140 - July 28, 2014 - Members of Post 140 were heavily involved with the rededication of the WWI Pershing Point Park Memorial. Members Ron Mountford and Jean-Paul Boulee (Jones Day) were instrumental in the project. The law firm of Jones Day was also a large contributor.. Post 140 namesake Waldo M Slaton's name is on the memorial plaque, among those who paid the ultimate sacrifice during WWI. The Memorial had gone into disrepair..

Veteran's Day Ceremonies - 2014

Post 0140 - September 11, 2014 – Veteran’s Day. Post 140 members participated at the Veteran’s Day ceremonies at the King and Queen Buildings in Sandy Springs. Member Jack Solomon was a guest speaker and Post Chaplain, Doug “Doc” Huber gave the invocation. Post Commander, Ken DeSimone, Vice-Commander, Scott Matthews, Adjutant, Shawn Reed, Historian, Dave Tippel and other members of the Post were present for the ceremony.

Thank You Note to the Troops

04/13/2015 – Post member Jack Solomon presented a very touching comment from a person who was attending a dental convention in Atlanta. Every year the USO operates a booth at the convention where attendees are encouraged to write a brief thank you note to our troops. Jack is deeply involved with the USO, and was at the booth collecting these notes. As a matter of routine the notes are read prior to submission to USO..
