JOHN L. MCBRIDE JR.
WW II US Navy veteran who served on the USS Breese (DD-122)
McBride was a Machinist Mate 2nd Class Petty Officer and was assigned to the ship in the Pacific theater immediately after hostilities broke out.
During the 2 year period in theatre the ship and it’s crew were involved in several battles as a mine layer at Midway, the Solomons, the Russells, New Georgia, and Kula Gulf.
Mcbride was commended by Admiral Halsey for his participation and commitment to duty during this hostile time in these southern Pacific islands.
